MURDER MYSTERY WEEKEND

Murders Most Horrid is hosting a Murder Mystery Weekend in Monk Coniston Hall (National Trust property) in the Lake District for 24-26 Feb 2012. Two ladies who attend a WI in Cheshire have already booked and they have suggested that other WIs may be interested in this event. CELEBRATE INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY WITH AN INSPIRING WOMEN GALLERY TOUR

To mark International Women's Day 2012 the NFWI has teamed up with the National Gallery in London’s Trafalgar Square to offer WI members a complimentary and unique inspiring women themed tour.

Inspiring women are represented throughout the National Gallery’s collection. From Minerva the goddess of wisdom to saints that remained steadfast to their beliefs in the face of adversity this tour will explore inspiring women in many guises. How did women artists like Vigée le Brun and Berthe Morisot overcome the challenges of their time to become successful artists and in what ways have depictions of women throughout history shaped society?
 
Tours normally last one hour and look at around four or five paintings in detail – they’re designed to be informal, interactive and relaxed; participants don’t need to have any prior knowledge of art history and the lecturer will encourage ideas, questions and discussion.
